From "I Do" to Baby Two — The Heister Family's Newborn Studio Session in Downtown Calgary

Some families become part of your story just as much as you become part of theirs — and the Heisters are exactly that for me. From their wedding day to maternity, family, and now this beautiful newborn session, I’ve had the honor of documenting so many meaningful milestones in their life. It’s a connection I don’t take lightly — and getting to capture this next chapter in June 2024 was incredibly special.

For this session, we stepped into a studio in downtown Calgary — a bright, beautifully styled indoor space perfect for those soft, cozy newborn moments. While more of my sessions happen outdoors in rustic or natural settings, I also love getting to switch things up and head into the studio. Studio sessions like this one give families a calm, controlled space — no wind, no bugs, no unpredictable Alberta weather — just warmth, light, and connection.

The Heisters brought all of that and more. With baby number two newly arrived, the energy in the studio was full of calm, joy, and the quiet sweetness of those early days. Second-time parents bring a beautiful balance of confidence and tenderness — and these two slipped right into that rhythm with ease. Their older child was an absolute gem — curious, gentle, and full of personality — making for some truly heartwarming sibling moments that I’ll never forget.

We kept everything soft and natural — swaddles, snuggles, and a few quiet in-between glances that told their story better than words ever could. The light in The Gallery Studio was absolutely dreamy, and the neutral tones brought out the warmth and connection of this growing family perfectly.

It’s families like the Heisters — ones I’ve photographed through every phase of life — that make this work so meaningful. Watching their love grow and change over the years is the kind of thing that sticks with you.
