Early Fall Photos With Their Almost-Three-Year-Old Twins
The Smith family’s session was one of those early fall evenings that feels relaxed, golden, and full of personality—exactly the kind of atmosphere you hope for when photographing energetic almost-three-year-old twins. We met out at their grandpa’s farm, a place that means so much to them, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for a playful, heartfelt family session.
The twins were just days away from their third birthday, and they brought all the joy, curiosity, and independence that comes with that age. Photographing twins is always fun, but photographing twins with this much personality is especially memorable. They explored, ran, laughed, and made the session entirely their own.
We spent part of our time in the wheat field, where the warm fall light and tall golden stalks created a beautiful backdrop. The girls were right at home in the space, wandering through the wheat with messy hair, big smiles, and that easy, carefree confidence that comes from growing up around wide-open farm land.
Grandpa joined the session too, which made it even more meaningful. Watching him with the girls, and seeing how comfortable they are with him on the farm, brought a sense of home and legacy to the photos. These are the moments that families look back on years later and feel grateful they captured.
And of course, one of the highlights of the evening was when the girls proudly showed off how they can drive their Polaris RZR. At almost three, it’s already one of their favourite things to do, and documenting that little piece of their world feels important—because these are the details that tell the full story of childhood around the farm.
The Smith family’s session was everything I love about photographing families in rural Alberta: genuine moments, a beautiful setting, and kids who feel free to be themselves. Early fall light, farm landscapes, and the laughter of two busy twins made this session one to remember.
