Kananaskis Photographer - Family session

Have you ever wanted those dreamy family photos with a stunning backdrop?

Well then this is the gallery for you to see! The Beaton family has let me document their whole life it seems like and I am so thankful to them for that. It’s one of my favourite things about being a photographer – getting to capture so many beautiful moments and milestones for their family from their engagement, to their wedding; from just the two of them, to 3. From a family of 3 to a family of 4; and so many beautiful moments in-between. I truly appreciate being trusted to capture these moments for their family, and sincerely love our friendship that’s continued to grow. Having clients that are friends, with whom our kids all love to get together, brings me a deep appreciation for the job I get to do. It gives me such a great feeling of community and that sense that our small town might still be small, and I love that.

This family shoot we took just a few minutes from home in Kananaskis. My husband and I spend a lot of time location scouting and for this shoot with their family we pulled out all the stops. I love being a Kananaskis Photographer.

The timing in Kananaskis has to be bang-on, because not only does the weather change at the drop of a hat, but the sun also drops like a rock behind the mountains so I’m always coming in with a game plan so we can make the most of our light. When we book a shoot out in the mountains I have a few locations I love using depending on time of year, look and the people in the shoot. I love the diversity of the views in Kananaskis, and enjoy the changes of seasons and the change in views that comes with it. We are so lucky to have views like these so close to Okotoks.

This session with Cody and Melissa’s family was in late fall and lots of the leaves had already dropped. It was fun playing with the light and the colours around us because that time of year we have a lot more greys and brown earthy tones. They were styled in gentle earthy tones which made their family photos look so beautiful and cohesive with the time of year.

Thank you again, Cody and Melissa. Your family is amazing and I love getting to capture these moments.
